Field Day 2005

Friday was the last day of school for Olivia so her class celebrated with field day. Field day is basically a bunch of outdoor games that the kids play. What I found interesting was the parents who would get upset if the kids were not following "the rules". There was one game that was an obstacle course but it wasn't real clear what the kids were suppose to do, so some of the kids just did their own thing. Like there were hula hoops on the ground and you were suppose to hop from one to the other. The kids did this but then they pick them up and tried to swing the hula hoop on their hips. A totally normal thing to do with a hula hoop. But one parent was all - YOU ARE SUPPOSE TO HOP THROUGH THEM!!! They are like 2 - 5 years old, who really cares what they do as long as everyone gets a chance?? Apparently this is wrong thinking because I got into trouble for encouraging Olivia and her friend to run across the wide open field next to where we were playing. It was the soccer field and the kids are not allowed to run on it. Oh well. We had a great time and Olivia said her favorite part was eating outside with Jack. Isn't that adorable?
